February 2011

Viglen has consolidated its position as a leading UK based infrastructure specialist after being selected as one of 9 suppliers on the new NHS File Server and Storage Framework agreement which has been established to support NHS Trusts in the generation of immediate cash-releasing savings. Total estimated value of the framework is between £16m and £32m.

Established in 1975, Viglen are a debt-free, consistently profitable British-based configure-to-order manufacturer and reseller focusing almost exclusively on the UK public sector. NHS Trusts benefit from a complete technical and commercial partnership for supply, servicing and end-to-end solution provision. Viglen offer Intel-based Enterprise Class Servers (one of only two Intel Server Country Leaders in Northern Europe) and a “right-sized” choice of storage solutions from leading vendors such as Hitachi Data Systems (Platinum Partner, one of only two the UK), NetApps (Platinum Partner), DotHill (Gold Partner) and Infortrend plus accompanying products and modular services.

The three year framework is open to approximately 200 NHS Trusts who are member and associate member trusts of four participating procurement hubs: The London Procurement Programme, Yorkshire and Humber Commercial Procurement Collaborative, North West Collaborative Commercial Agency and re:source Procurement Hub (operating on behalf of NHS organisations within the East Midlands).

As the NHS continues to increase its use of IT to improve the provision of patient care, this framework will support on-going operational needs while maintaining affordability no matter what the size of the organisation. In addition to servers and storage devices Viglen will also supply associated services including installation, configuration, training, maintenance and support.

This major award builds upon Viglen’s continuing success with Trusts such as Guys & St Thomas Hospital, Tameside NHS, Bradford and Airedale, to name but a few.
