Viglen three year Single Supplier deal with Newport City Council

February 2011

Viglen has been awarded sole supplier status for PC’s and laptops by Newport City Council in a three year deal with the option to extend for one additional year.
The total estimated value of the contract could be as high as £2.8m.

Viglen were invited to bid via the Value Wales Framework which invites public sector customers in Wales to source a variety of high quality, great value IT products while benefiting from simple procurement options. Value Wales provides leadership, strategic direction, procurement training and best practice guidance to help organisations including universities, NHS and city councils achieve real and sustainable improvements.

Newport City Council, one of the largest Welsh councils, employs approximately 7,500 people and has 50 councillors representing 20 electoral wards. In addition to corporate customers within the council Viglen will be supplying end users at educational establishments including the 60 schools that fall under the councils responsibility.

Viglen’s tender for the contract including small form factor PC’s and Toshiba laptops was considered to be the most economically advantageous and will see them replacing Dell, the incumbent of 5 years, as supplier.
