This award will entitle Viglen to bid for all major ICT projects including the new government’s initiative to engage with 2000 new academies. Total value of the four-year contract is an estimated £400million with a scope that includes Local Authorities, Further Education and Academies in addition to all other schools. Furthermore, given that the Building Schools for the Future programme has ceased, Becta’s new all-encompassing framework will open doors to a large number of multi-million pound aggregated ICT requirements.
Viglen’s position in both Lot 1 and 2 underlines its position as an important ICT Service provider alongside enterprise level managed service companies, construction giants and global tier 1 vendors.
Throughout an EU Compliant tendering process, Viglen successfully demonstrated their ability to meet a wide set of requirements based on innovative solutions and key topical issues such as educational transformation, sustainable development and critically, value for money.
Viglen’s overall proposal included a full range of secure ICT solutions, carefully selected and integrated to achieve greater learner achievement, automation of routine tasks and enhanced system interoperability through open standards. Within the evaluation, Viglen designed, delivered and presented model school scenarios and in doing so fully demonstrated the ability to own, manage and co-ordinate a seamlessly integrated supply chain with project management and multi-vendor engineering skill.
Scoring highly in several key areas, Viglen secured their place on the framework and proved that they are worthy of their reputation and recognition as an ICT service integrator that offers tier-one quality and end-to-end ICT solutions for UK Education.
The framework will ensure the process of procuring ICT is simpler and quicker for schools and associated educational establishments, easing the burden on Institution leaders, ensuring more efficient use of staff time as well as driving greater reliability of service and greater efficiencies in operation, finance and environmental impact.
