Viglen has achieved ISO-14001 certification for Environmental Management Systems, the notable international standard that specifies a process for controlling and improving an organisation’s environmental performance.
 
As part of Viglen’s long term campaign for sustainable IT solutions, the Environmental Management Systems ISO-140001 certification recognises Viglen’s continued commitment to sustainable processes and policies.
 
The accreditation compliments their existing eco-friendly internal processes including their campaign to use recyclable materials, which has seen a growth of Viglen’s recycling from 34 tonnes in 2007 to 93 tonnes in 2009, an increase of 173%. This improvement reflects Viglen’s commitment to improving their environmental performance, which is key under the ISO-14001 Environmental Management Systems requirements.
 

Viglen continues to work closely with their public sector customers to implement cost effective, environmentally responsible practices. Viglen have received significant positive customer feedback about their “bulk packing” process, which combines up to 60 PCs in one box. This bulk packing directly contributes towards lowering their customers’ impact on the environment. Smaller consignments continue to be delivered in Viglen’s reusable blue boxes, which have notched up nearly 200 journeys each over the last 6 years.
 
Viglen and their selected partners incorporate eco-computing technologies which help their public sector customers meet their own sustainability commitments. Toshiba’s ‘Carbon Zero’ program helps Viglen customers to offset the lifetime carbon footprint.
 
Viglen’s partnership with PC Power Down helps organisations save electricity and reduce CO2 emissions by giving administrators easy, remote power management for PCs and other electrical devices.
